Verv Interview - English Version

You must be blind if you did not read/hear/see something about the Russian NSHC movement yet. The scene there is THE scene nowadays; they create quantity and quality in the same time. If you heard only Outlaw Heroes Standing, Kiborg and You Must Murder from Russia yet, we'd like to introduce You a new generation of HC bands from there, who are really top. We already made interviews with Death Penalty, xDasslerx and now we'd like to introduce you a new and very talented band. Ladies and Gentlemen, here comes Verv!

1., Please tell us about something about the band! When did you start the group? From which area are You from?

The band was founded in 2013, the two of us decided to create music. We wanted to make heavy music with intricate lyrics, but we didn't know what would arise. We are from Ivanovo region, one of 85 regions of Russia.

2., What does the band name "Verv" stand for?

"Verv" is a historical Russian word, it is not used in speech now. The "verv" means "rope", but there is another meaning - "community". This means that we are in a ligament, we are a team and are firmly attached to each other and to our homeland. This is a word game, if we speak Russian.

3., We'd describe Your music as heavy beatdown hardcore. Is this correct? Earlier it was not common within the Russian scene. How did You came to the idea to play this kind of music?

Heavy Beatdown hardcore is pretty close, but we complement a lot of elements from other styles, such as groove metal, dead metal. We like to experiment. We decided to play this kind of music, because it helps us to reflect our masculine standpoint. In Russia there is an aphorism "music is stronger than fists" - it is about us.

4., If I take a look at Your cd covers, it is obvious that You're not an "average" hatecore band. Could You describe Your political views please? Do You declare Yourselves monarchists or are You more in the NS direction?

We do not identify itself, specifically the monarchists of the NS direction, our views are close to the monarchy, but some ideas of NS direction attracts of us.

5., What is Your opinion, are there similiar bands in Russia nowadays? Or are You the only band with this kind of views & music?

I think, that such groups perhaps exist in Russia, but they are not so popular, that many people know about them. Our music has a special presentation and lyrics, which in combination make our band unique. I would like to see more of this music in Russia and to be listened to more actively.

6., Are You cooperating with other rightwing HC bands? Are there problems between monarchists and NS people because their views?

We are cooperating with a lot of rightwing bands, that they have a little bit of different political views, but we have never had a conflict, because we're doing music, not politics, and we're doing a common thing.

7., I find Your orthodox Christian religious views a very unique and good point. What about people within the Russian movement? As far as I know, neopaganism is ruling nowadays the scene there. Do You face challenges on this topic?

We have almost no problems with religious views. In Russia nowadays, people have become a little easier to relate to the nuances of different faiths. On the contrary, adherence to non-standard religious views often arouses interest and desire to learn closer. We sometimes describe in our songs the theme of dual religion (Orthodoxy and paganism), the public is interested.

8., How is the everyday life in Your area nowadays?

In our area everyday life is good. We work, spend time with our families and make music. Sometimes we get together with other rightwing people and do sports or creativity.

9., I took this question to the Moscow Band "Death Penalty" earlier too, but I'd like to hear Your opinion abut this topic too: in Hungary several people have the opinion, that Putin is a new Hitler, however I heard from several Russian sources that Putin's regime oppresses the Russian nationalist and NS movement. Could You tell us about this a bit more?

Our government is fighting terrorism, and nationalism is also under attack. Sometimes rightwing people and groups who have done nothing wrong suffer because of this. In general, rightwing radical movement is not suppressed in Russia, but the government is trying to control it. In Russia nowadays, you can freely Express your viewpoint, but you need to do it quietly and without unnecessary aggression, then you will hear, but will not be suppressed. In Russia there are examples of prohibited and permitted rightwing groups. How we express our viewpoint depends only on us.

10, Do You often make gigs? If yes, do You organize these concerts alone or do You receive help from organisations?

We don't make a lot of gigs. More often we ask for help from the organizers of concerts, or perform at gigs with other similar groups. We rarely organize gigs ourselves, because there is little public in our area that is ready to come to the gig.

11, Will be there a nuclear conflict between the USA and Russia? Or between America and China?

I try not to think about war. Let political leaders think about it, ordinary people do not solve such issues.

12, I heard rumors (and saw the flyer :) ) about an upcoming split with the Hungarian NSHC band Fehér Törvény. Are You planning other releases too nowadays?

We have started recording a new album, with a release is planned for later this year.

13, Are there any Russian bands nowadays You would suggest us to check?

Thought you might be interested in the group "Fактор Производства". These are great people from the capital of Russia.

14, As we mentioned earlier, there will be a split with Fehér Törvény. Do You know their music? Besides them do You know anything about the Hungarian movement?

We first heard about "Fehér Törvény" when we were offered a joint release. We didn't know anything about the Hungarian movement before, but now we want to know more about it.

15, If You have something to say or any last words, please feel free to tell it now!

Thank you for your interest in our band and our music! We are happy to establish and maintain international relations of the right movements, it is really good! We want to listen to more right music from different countries and communicate with people.
